EES Consulting has more than 16 years’ building industry experience on projects nationwide. Our building energy professionals are experts in residential and commercial building inspection and home energy conservation. And they’re tested by the nation's leading building science, auditing and green building programs. We are qualified.
BPI Certified Building Analyst: As certified BPI (Building Performance Institute) Building Analysts, EES Consultants have had training in BPI's rigorous house-as-a-system approach and kept conscientiously up-to-date on certification (BPI requires Building Analysts to be re-certified every three years). We are trained and certified to conduct blower-door tests, combustion appliance inspection and repair, air quality testing including carbon monoxide detection, duct testing and airflow testing in addition to our other contracting services. For more information about BPI's standards, take a look at their Technical Standards for Building Analysts (PDF).
RESNET Certified HERS Rater: A RESNET-certified auditor, or HERS Rater, has passed a two-hour, 50-question written exam with a score of 80% or better. RESNET qualified auditors have performed two ratings supervised by a RESNET training provider, and three more "probationary" ratings within 1 year of passing the written exam. ALL ratings done by a HERS Rater are submitted to a RESNET affiliate for quality control and approval. According to RESNET's National Energy Audit Standard (PDF), in addition to evaluating a building's energy consumption, auditors inspect combustion appliances for potential health hazards. A HERS Rater is trained to do both home energy audits (useful for existing homes) and home energy ratings (more helpful for new homes).
LEED AP: Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is an internationally recognized green building certification system developed by the U.S. Green Building Council. To become an Accredited Professional (AP), building pros must pass a rigorous 100-question test to qualify as an expert in green building techniques. LEED AP is now known as LEED BD+C (Building Design and Construction).
Energy Star Partner: Home Performance with Energy Star is a subsidiary of the EPA's Energy Star program. The Home Performance Program is focused exclusively on upgrading the energy efficiency of existing buildings. The program operates through a system of regional partners, all of whom must hold a certification from the Building Performance Institute (BPI). Energy Star Homes (which is a label for new buildings), is a separate certification of energy efficient standards met during construction. EES Consulting does both, and we’re proud to partner with ENERGY STAR.
